Bream Bay Electrical Ltd is a locally owned and operated electrical contracting business based in Ruakaka, proudly serving the Bream Bay region in residential and commercial work (including Waipu, One Tree Point, Mangawhai) and wider Northland, we also provide support for projects and maintenance for the local dairy industry.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician for a permanent full-time position to join our growing team. This role involves ongoing industrial work (primarily supporting the dairy industry) and a mix of residential/commercial projects as needed. Full-time hours are 42 per week (Monday–Friday with potential overtime), site-based in the Bream Bay/Northland area.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform industrial electrical installations, repairs, maintenance, and upgrades on machinery, control systems, power distribution, motors, valves, and instrumentation in dairy processing and related industrial environments.

Conduct fault finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on industrial equipment.

Work safely on live/near-live systems using lockout/tagout, permits-to-work, JSAs/SWMS, and other controls per our H&S Policy and client requirements.

Collaborate with clients (e.g., dairy sites), site teams, and our crew to complete projects on time, to standard, and safely.

Ensure compliance with NZ electrical regulations, client H&S protocols, and our internal policies (including site inductions, toolbox talks, hazard/risk assessments, and emergency procedures).

Contribute to our proactive safety culture through incident reporting, near-miss identification, and participation in monthly safety meetings.
What We're Looking For:

Current NZ EWRB practising licence as an Electrician (essential).

Proven experience in industrial electrical work (e.g., dairy processing, manufacturing, heavy industry, automation, or similar—dairy sector experience highly advantageous).

Strong knowledge of industrial systems, fault finding, PLC basics (advantageous), and high-voltage/low-voltage work.

Relevant competencies/certifications: e.g., working at heights, first aid, hazardous substances, confined spaces (or willingness to obtain/refresh).

Excellent safety mindset, attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work independently or collaboratively.

Reliable transport and valid NZ driver's licence.

Physically fit for site work and able to pass pre-employment checks if required.
