Industrial capability

  • Industrial distribution - switchboard replacements, submains, motor control, earthing and bonding, cable support systems, power, control and instrumentation cabling, testing and certification.
  • PLC, instrumentation and safety-critical systems - PLC panels, remote I/O, field instruments, VSDs, gas detection, emergency shutdown and safety PLC field integration. Our automation and instrumentation page covers this side of the work in detail.
  • Project resourcing - established relationships with trusted Northland electrical and specialist subcontractors, so we can scale the workforce for larger projects and multiple work fronts.
  • Project coordination - experience working alongside electrical engineers, automation engineers and other project stakeholders within operational industrial environments.

Working in controlled industrial environments

We are accustomed to working within controlled industrial environments and the systems that come with them: permit-to-work systems, electrical isolations, job safety analyses, site inductions, testing and certification, client quality requirements, project-specific health and safety requirements, inspection and test plans, and project reporting and document control. All electrical installations in New Zealand must comply with the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010, and WorkSafe sets out how those requirements apply to installations. We certify the work we do and hand over the documentation with it.

Planning around production

Larger work can be staged or timed for planned shutdowns, and we tell you in advance what needs to be isolated and for how long, so production is not surprised. Shutdown work is planned to the hour, with the people and parts on site before the plant stops. For breakdowns and the faults that come back every few weeks, our maintenance and fault finding service covers planned inspections as well as call-outs. Sites that are part plant and part office can use the same team for the commercial side of the building.

Recent projects

Our recent industrial work includes a dryer safety-system upgrade at Fonterra Maungaturoto, HVAC PLC and switchboard upgrades at Fonterra Kauri, and the natural gas detection and isolation systems for the Kauri dryer air heater rooms. Each was delivered inside an operating plant, under the site's own permit and isolation systems. The scope and outcome of each is on our industrial projects page.

What to have ready when you call

A short description of the plant and the problem goes a long way: the make and model of the drive, PLC or machine involved, any fault codes on the display, the site's electrical drawings if they exist, and your isolation and permit requirements. For project work, a scope or even a marked-up photo of what needs to change lets us price it accurately and plan the right people and parts for the first visit.

From planned projects and plant upgrades to day-to-day maintenance and fault finding, Bream Bay Electrical provides dependable industrial electrical support to keep your operation running safely and efficiently.

Planning a shutdown or an upgrade?

Tell us what the plant does and what needs to change. We will come and look at the site before we price it.
